About Dr Susan Wheeler
Sue is a counselling psychologist who understands that life isn’t always easy and can sometimes bring obstacles, uncertainty, and challenges. She cares about understanding you and your unique situation without any judgement.
Sue has a professional doctorate in counselling psychology and has worked locally for over 10 years, in government and private practice. Sue has helped clients return to the workplace after injury, cope with panic and stress, and adjust to significant life changes.
Sue has a background in emergency services and understands the stress and sometimes traumatic experiences that work can bring. She is passionate about working together with you to have a renewed sense of hope as you face the future.
Sue works primarily with adults. Her areas of interests include depression, anxiety, workplace issues, life stress, trauma, life transitions, grief, and loss.
Sue primarily uses cognitive behavioural therapy but fits therapy to you. She uses a range of evidence-based approaches, including, solutions focused, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and has had training in schema therapy and motivational interviewing.
