About Dr Sabrina Adams
Sabrina has a background in psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is also trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Imago Relationship Therapy.
More recently Sabrina has been training in Janina Fisher’s approach to treating trauma, which brings together a neurobiological understanding of trauma, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which focuses on releasing trauma held in the body, and Internal Family Systems which creates a dialogue with and between different parts of the self.
Background
Sabrina is interested in non-ordinary states of consciousness, such as dreams, meditation, breathwork, mystical and psychedelic experiences, especially in relation to healing trauma. She is a therapist in research on MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder. She has a particular interest in the integration of such experiences, without which their lessons can easily be lost.
On a personal level, Sabrina is a mother, practices meditation and yoga, grows her own vegetables, loves to hike, camp, swim, be out in nature, travel and explore new places. She is interested in spirituality, ritual, creativity and play, and the way these things can increase our sense of meaning and purpose, and enjoyment of life.
Sabrina often uses an integrated approach to guide people in exploring their inner landscape, with the goal of increasing understanding, fully feeling emotions, identifying unhelpful patterns, and creating new ways of being in the world.
