About Lisa Wong
Lisa has experience working across public, private, and community mental health settings, including acute mental health and crisis services. She has worked extensively with infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to 25, and their families, in public health settings, as well as with adults experiencing a range of emotional, psychological, and life difficulties.
Lisa provides a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where people can feel comfortable being themselves. She takes a collaborative and individualised approach to therapy, recognising that there is no single approach that works for everyone. Her training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed approaches, positive psychology, Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). When working with children, she incorporates child-focused, play-based, and creative approaches, including art and other therapeutic activities. Her approach is adapted to each person’s age, developmental stage, strengths, needs, and goals, and her practice is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based psychological approaches.
She is fluent in English and Cantonese, and welcomes clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Psychological Assessment
Lisa is experienced in conducting a broad range of current, evidence-based psychological assessments, with a particular interest in cognitive assessments for autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disorders, to support understanding, formulation, and treatment planning.
She is experienced administering assessment tools including the ADOS-2, WPPSI, WISC-V, WAIS-IV, BASC, and Vineland, along with a range of other evidence-based screening and assessment measures, and aims to make the assessment process as comfortable and respectful as possible for each individual. Her reports are comprehensive and individualised, written in clear, accessible language, with practical recommendations that can be used at home, school, and in other settings.
Background
Lisa has worked extensively with children, adolescents, parents, and care teams across a range of settings, including the NDIS, public and government services, Catholic and independent schools, and specialist education settings. Above all, she believes that psychological support should feel safe, respectful, and collaborative, whether that means creating a gentle and engaging space for younger clients or a warm, empathetic environment for adults and adolescents to feel heard, understood, and supported.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, and her three beloved Ragdoll cats and a little Yorkie who is very much the boss of the house. She has strong beliefs in animal and human rights.
